Hi there,
I am very new at colour correction and would appreciate any guidance available. I have a shot of a motor cycle driving into a parking spot. As I was editing, I noticed that there were oil stains on part of the pavement. I would like to change the colour of the stain to match the other pavement.
I use Final Cut Pro 7 if there is anyone who can guide me to a video or tell me how to do this it would be great. Apparently Apple Color is great but I can’t seem to find a video specifically for this issue.
Cheers,

January 17, 2011 at 5:49 pm in reply to: “File: Access Denied” error when I try to renderSorry – I think I have it working now. I am still not sure why I had to change the setting when I never did before but so far so good – the audio rendered 🙂

January 17, 2011 at 5:37 pm in reply to: “File: Access Denied” error when I try to renderI am having the same problem now rendering. I have never had it before, in fact, I edited all day yesterday. Can anyone tell me how to change the permission settings? I have no idea if I clicked something or why this would be a problem all of a sudden. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,
It was working great until the files became larger. Once the interviews for the documentaries were over 18 minutes each, they crashed. The computer kept giving me the message that “the device was removed improperly.”
I was on the phone with SONY who said it was the version of FInal Cut I was using which is 6.0.6. I have ordered 7.0.3. Apparently the glitches are fixed in that version. I can watch the clips play but not get them, off – so close and yet so far! Fingers crossed that the new software is the answer.

Thank you very much for your help. The most important thing to me is/was still having the interviews.
It is a huge relief! They are something you cannot do twice and get the same results. I am very happy 🙂

Hi there,
Thank you for the response. There were no warnings at all – not during shooting or otherwise. I brought the interviews in like every other time and 3/4 of the way through the log and transfer process, the red exclamation mark came up saying the device was removed. I know for a fact that it was not so I this was a bit scary.
I spoke spoke to very helpful SONY rep and he thinks that the problem is partly the fact that I am using Final Cut 6.0 (and it not fully support by the camera and/or vice versa) This, combined with the fact that they are the longer interviews (18 minutes plus) could be the problem. I think he called them spanned footage. The interviews are still on the memory unit and play fine. Tomorrow, I will order the newest Final Cut and try again.

Hey there!
Remove you flash unit from the camera and plug it right into you Mac.
Open FInal Cut and press Log Transfer.
All you footage should come up and voila – juts drag and drop.
It should transfer into your Final Cut.
Hope this helps – mine is working like a dream 🙂

Hi Chris,
Woohoo – it’s working! I can’t tell you what a happy lady I am 🙂
Thank you for your patience as I fumble my way through this learning curve.

Hi Chris,
I understood that this camera shoots either with cards or the memory unit (which lasts up to 11 hours as you know) but maybe I have misunderstood something. However, if this is the case then I should be able to use what I have already purchased. It is not about the $12. It is about not being able to find answers on how to use the memory unit. My manual is geared for a PC.
I know the solution must be simple, but without knowing how to use the unit, what is the point of having it? Buying cards seems to be a band aid for the problem not really solving the problem. I am not trying to be difficult, I am just a frustrated customer who spent 7 thousand dollars on gear and cannot get any footage off the memory unit. Each place I take it for help, they tell me I should never have bought a SONY if I use a Mac. I don’t believe this to be true because I have seen other posts where others are using it just fine but for some reason this isn’t working for me. In the end, the suggestion is to get cards and not use the memory unit. The memory unit should work, I am juts trying to find out what is wrong.
I appreciate your time very much, I am just disappointed.

Hi again,
Yes, that is what someone else suggested. I find that a bit discouraging though because I just paid nearly a thousand dollars for the flash unit. There is no point keeping the camera if I cannot use it to it’s capacity. I don’t want to have to make more purchases because what I bought does not seem to work. No one can seem to help me. If I cannot figure this out I will return it to the place I bought it from. If they cannot help me, then I will return the camera. Thanks you for your help, I appreciate your time.
Cheers,
Kari
