Interesting. We’ll so far so good after the update. There’s been no stutter at all. I guess time will tell if it comes back.

I’ll look into the Blackmagic card. Weirdly I just updated to Yosemite 10.10.4 and now it’s working great. Thanks for the help.

I guess what I’m wondering why is it tasking the system so much and is there anything I can do about it?

  • Hey Michael DeJohn , what did you ever figure out as far as work flow? I’m producing a similar show and am thinking of moving over to Adobe and have been looking to see if Premiere is robust enough. What did you end up going with?

Has anyone ever heard from Sony about this? I purchased 2 EX3’s in 2012 and one of them just got a red dot – of course, right after the warranty ran out. Now Sony wants to charge me $2500 to fix it. I’ve used these cameras a ton in the past but I’ve never had so many problems. So far I’ve had each camera in twice for dust inside the lens elements, which I’ve never seen before, and now this. Did they change production plants or something?

I solved it in a different way. I downloaded a program called Preference Manager. It deleted more stuff than I did when I trashed my preferences. Then I re-started FCPX and it worked great. Glad you solved your problem

The same thing happened to me. I was working on a project, and suddenly the spacebar and the j-k-l keys stopped working. I trashed the preferences but that didn’t fix the problem. Any ideas?

January 19, 2013 at 11:35 pm in reply to: Matching PMW 200 and EX3

If I was just beginning to shoot the show I’m working on, I would shoot everything flat, but we’ve been filming for months with the Marvel picture profiles, so I’m really hoping to figure out a way to match the 200 to the EX3’s. I may start from zero to see if the chips match from there and then try and figure out what the different matrix settings are. I’m surprised that Sony or someone hasn’t come up with a good explanation of the settings and how they differ. Especially since these cameras are supposedly made to work together.
