And one more option: Draw a beam and use the puppet tool at two ends and middle, attached to your nulls.

I believe you’re right, the internal height value of the font has been set to correspond to something else than the height of the capital letter.

If you are referring to the golden edges of the text itself, they are a separate 3D bevel. It can be done with C4D or with Element (or some other 3D program). In Element there is an option to extrude edges only, which looks just like this (with the proper material assigned).

Exporting Mocha corner pin to AE would do it well. Mocha doesn’t have problem if the target goes partially out of frame.

You might be able to use Keylight to mask anything that goes in front of the poster, if that happens. The two greens (poster and the crosses) are quite different in color, so two instances of Keylight may be needed.

Trapcode Form can use footage as a custom particle and can offset the footage in time in various ways. Or split the footage into several equal pieces and use those:

    https://www.redgiant.com/tutorial/04-getting-started-with-trapcode-form-custom-particles/

So you have 100 different images that you want to morph between? That’s a bit of a different issue than making numerous copies of one morph between two images. For a particle system, it would be better to have all the images in one piece of footage. (Or in one precomp.) Did you have a plan on how to morph from one image to another?

I can recommend Form for creating multiple copies from a single piece of footage, but sounds like the first question to resolve is how to get that one piece of footage put together — unless you’ve solved that already.

You could apply it to what you’re doing. Although it uses shatter, it is still relatively controlled effect, not an explosion type shatter. It will make it look like your image is vertically on the wall, which would make sense. Some sort of erode where pieces don’t fall off will likely look like something is melting away. This might be a more convincing effect.

I would just study that tutorial in detail and work out how it could be applied to your image. It doesn’t apply only to text.

I see. I would make the three stripes their individual layers, and concentrate the morph on one of the three stripes so that one stripe turns into the triangle (or the other way around) and the other two sort of emerge behind the triangle. I would start with the triangle, then keyframe the mask so that it ends up right inside the select stripe at the end keyframe. For the other two stripes, you probably want to add an animated envelope distort so they “morph” as they move out from behind the triangle. Using just four corner points for envelope distort will be adequate.

If there is no specific reason to make the triangle in Illustrator, you can do the animation with three animated masks on a solid layer and two keyframes. Start with two of the masks inside the triangular mask, then reshape the masks into three stripes at the other keyframe. Or is there something inside the triangle other than flat color that needs to morph as well?

No, they are being morphed along with the rest of the image. You’ll need several poses, front on, 1/4 view, 1/2 view 3/4 view, side view to begin with. But they are reuseable.

The real issue is how many pieces you have to break it down to. For instance closing eyes can be a pretty complex affair. I don’t know if you can really track that. If not, you’ll have to create some nulls and sliders to do so.

However you approach it, it is a LOT of work to do something like this.

If something less ambitious is workable, you could check out some toon shader plug-ins. They do the work mostly automatically, but obviously they don’t look as good.

  • No probs. I would keep the post: Purging all memory or closing and opening the program, as well as restarting the computer are good handlings for quite a number of mysterious issues 🙂
