  • Trying it out, looks like this with (glass) Shatter and Mir.

    Shatter Effect and Mir

  • Without a physics engine nothing is going to interact. Form isn’t really that much more “real” 3D than the shatter effect. To get actual interaction, you’ll need something like cloth simulation in Cinema 4D or Blender or other 3D program.

    The real problem is how to make pieces fly off. You can’t do that in Form. You can make an image look like a flag in Form — or even better in Mir — but there’s not going to be any pieces flying off, or any interaction.

    If you don’t want to use a 3D program, Shatter with a custom shatter map is one of your best options.

  • In other words you want to math the shake of the 3D camera position and the point of interest and apply it to the 3D camera?

    In theory, you would motion track two points, one close to the camera and one far away and link the camera to the tracker near the camera and the point of interest to the point in the distance, both with multipliers that try and simulate the distance of the tracked objects from the camera, i.e. how much they actually move in real life. If handheld, the point of interest in the distance would usually move much more than the camera itself. That might work for mimicking the effect. Making it accurate is another story.

    Wave Warp with zero speed and Wave Height animated between two settings, -100 to 100 or whatever is fitting for the purpose.

    // X POSITION
    xDistancia = thisComp.layer("Adjustment Layer 8").effect("xDistance")("Slider");
    xPos = thisComp.layer(thisLayer, -1).transform.position[0] - xDistancia;

    //Y POSITION
    amplitude = thisComp.layer("Background 04 Bottom 3").effect("Wave Warp")("Wave Height");
    frequency = Math.PI;
    phase_offset = (index-1)*Math.PI*(xDistancia/thisComp.layer("Background 04 Bottom 3").effect("Wave Warp")("Wave Width"));
    yPos = transform.position[1] + amplitude * Math.sin(frequency*time+phase_offset);

    [xPos, yPos]

    In essence, since one full wave length is PI, you can use X_distance divided by wave length (multiplied by Math.PI) for the phase offset (Which makes the “Y Delay” slider unnecessary).

    An OR operator usually compares true and false values (0 and 1) and returns true or false (0 or 1) so I assume there is a problem using it on slider values. AE probably has no idea what you are trying to do. It doesn’t evaluate only the one that has changed, if that is what you are trying to do. What is the result of 0.576 OR 1.476 OR 3.786? I have no clue and I doubt AE does either.

    I’d get the three slider values separately and tell AE what you want to do with these three values. Do you want to use the maximum value or the minimum value from the three possible values, or their average, or their sum or something else.

    Update: AE thinks the result of 0.576 OR 1.476 OR 3.786 is 3. Which I gather to be the result of the calculation 0 OR (1 OR 3), however that gets evaluated.

    Did you link the nulls to the parent null when the parent null was still at default coordinates (center of comp)?

    If so, you can do the following to get the nulls back to their original positions:

    Unlink the nulls from their current parent (“Null 1”).

    Create a new 3D null (“Null 2”) at default position. Link the nulls to it.

    Add the following expressions to your “Null 2”.

    Scale:

    100*transform.scale/thisComp.layer("Null 1").transform.scale[0]

    Position:

    transform.position+transform.scale[0]/100*(transform.position-thisComp.layer("Null 1").transform.position)

    (If you linked the nulls when the parent null was somewhere else, I don’t think there’s anything you can do, as you need to know where it was when you did the linking.)

  • If you are using the Hue/Saturation Effect with “Colorize” turned on and it is on the same layer as your slider, the expression for “Colorize Hue” is as follows:

    hue_set=[10,20,30,40,50,60,70];// <<< insert your selected 7 hue angles here selector=Math.floor(effect("Slider Control")("Slider")); if (selector<1){selector=1}; if(selector>7){selector=7}; hue_set[selector-1]
