  • Hi Mathias,
Apologies for the delayed reply! Bob indeed did help us out with the setup of a QNAP 1685. We’re using it with FCP X and Resolve primary. Feel free to shoot me any questions if you’re still working through shared storage.

    Cheers,
    Justin

  • Hi Nathan,
Thanks for your response and info. We would love to go with a ProMAX system, but at this point I think you guys might be out of our league. Your integrated LTO archives are enviable ????

I contacted another CreativeCow user using the TS-1685 who gave it a solid review so I think we’ll go in that direction. I’m in touch with Bob Zelin who will help sort out any specifics for us.

    Cheers,
    Justin

No, his involvement would stop after the referral. How have you handled a referred customer who you continue to work for several times? Do you pay out 10% each time? Is there a limit of some sort?

    Thanks,
    Justin

Yeah, that’s about right. We’re still in the process of refining our billing process since our client base is constantly changing and our skill level still developing. As with all costs, we would factor his commission into our price.

What do you mean by “appearance of collusion and/or kickbacks”? Isn’t what I am describing a typical agreement between someone and an agent? The fact that he would be earning a commission, while maybe not being touted, would not be a secret.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Thanks for the reply David.

When I mentioned partitioning it was reference to hard drive speeds on the inside vs the outside of the disk and not using the whole drive in order to increase driver performance – as discussed on this page:

    https://macperformanceguide.com/Storage-WhyYouNeedMoreThanYouNeed.html

You mention that striping increases throughput which increases performance (understood), but then go to say that RAID levels above 0 don’t increase performance. I think I’m understanding the second bit out of context. Can you explain?

Any comments on the second set of questions in my original post?

    Justin
