Really appreciate the tips, Patrice. Look forward to hearing what else you can throw my way.

    Hey Patrice,

Just bought it and am struggling to find any comprehensive instructions and tutorials for creating timecode ins and outs from transcription.

how do you import the transcription text from a word/pages file, add timecode to it while watching video playback and then export an xml to FCPX and a 3 column excel file?

I’m running FCP 10.0.8/9 and Annotation Edit 1.9.32.

The manual really just references its use with FCP Legacy, and the lazy, image only FCPX manual seems to be from an older version of Annotation Edit, as the Export>Image (NLE,DCP) window shows bot FCP X options checked off, which is not possible in my version.

Lotta noob questions, apologize if this exists in another post in here.

    Advanced Thanks

  • In hindsight, the 60p footage isn’t really a factor in my question. Apologies. But the clips that ARE would be the 24p shot to normal speed playback and the 24p clips shots to slow playback that will sync when sped up(the 60p stuff is just cutaway/narrative inserts). Are there speed changes that can be done within the event browser to these slow playback clips so the multicam function can use audio to sync as at that point the audio would be the same?

Could you define “name based” in the context youre using it?

This just changed my whole world. I have been Log and transferring with FCP7 to retain camera given clip names.

  • Im trying to get my cutting speed up to push through a bottle neck of freelance. Figured I ought to take advantage of the time saving features within the applications Im using.

Just recently had my first dance with FCPX multicam editing and want to use it to cut the the different takes of shots with this music video to both expedite the cutting and create a more minimalist timeline/project and compound clips. As far as I cant tell, though, you can only create a multicam clip from event browser and not the timeline/project. I would love to be wrong on that.

The conform option does exactly that, works really well in my experience. I love all the retiming stuff in FCPX so far.

it was the “SPeak selected text when the key is pressed” option in system preferences sharing, or hogging, the CMD-1 function in the same manner Expose had monopolized CMD-F12 in the past. Not FCP related at all.

But thanks again for providing me with a checklist within FCP to run down. I wouldnt have looked outside of the program if I hadnt exhausted them.

Thanks for your input Everest. I tried all your suggestions, but to no avail. (software update bumped me to 7.0.3, dunno if that is current or not).

What I am noticing though is when I hit CMD-1 in FCP, the EDIT menu flashes blue. also, outside for FCP, CMD-1 seems to activate the OS’ “voice”, and it reads me whatever is selected in Finder. So Im wondering could this OS command might be interfering with the FCP command?
