I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with other organisations such as MiniMatters, Alliance Française, STEMedia, and most recently the U.N. In 2017 moved to France to fortify my French-speaking skills and volunteer with the non-profit organization ActForRef (Action Internationale d'aide aux Réfugiés). There, I worked with Syrian refugees documenting their stories through a range of video interviews. Shortly after I moved to Greece, where I volunteered at the Souda and Vial refugee camps in the island of Chios. Now, I work in Paris, France, where I permanently reside. I work primarily with Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Throughout my travels I also produced and edited a short documentary film about a Syrian refugee in France called “Unbroken Paradise,” and “An Iraqi Belly Dancer,” which you can find in the work samples at http://www.juandavid.org

When it comes to capturing footage in different situations and environments, I have a keen eye for storytelling and I can quickly identify what looks good on camera. I possess extensive experience conducting interviews on studio and field settings in different countries in Spanish, English, French and also Arabic, with the help of a translator. In the past I’ve overseen multimedia projects from start to finish, whether it was with a team or on my own doing everything from scheduling, conducting, setting up, and shooting interviews to editing the project and ensuring timely delivery. An organizational competence and a systematized workflow helps me keep track of my video projects during post-production, and I have expertise working with systems such as Adobe Premiere, Illustrator, Lightroom, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition, Final Cut, and DaVinci Resolve.
