Any new developments? I am having the same issue as well. It persist to snap to the grid even though ever “snap” feature is turned off. Have turned Illustrator settings upside down looking for a solution and this is the only thread I could find on the internet pertaining to the issue.

It’s very annoying. I will continue using CS4 until I can get a resolution.
