    Eli-

As I am currently dealing with this exact situation with many of our clients, here is the information I have been giving. Please feel free to reach out to me for a deeper discussion, I am happy to help in any way that I can.

Piston Media Group is a re-seller & integrator for Video Software & Hardware products, moreover, we try to be the best resource we can for product information. Part of our product offerings include both ProMAX and CATDV. We also offer a product called XenData for LTO Archiving. This integrates directly with CATDV. Please see the links below for more information. The XenData range of data storage systems is optimized for reliable long-term retention of video files. Systems are available that store content on LTO cartridges, Sony Optical Disc Archive cartridges or on RAID. Disk systems include Continuous Data Protection (CDP), backing up to either a locally attached LTO library or the Amazon cloud. Please feel free to reach me any time for more information about ProMAX, CATDV, XenData or any other products or workflows. We are happy to help in any way we can, and if we can earn your business in the process, then we have done our job.

A CatDV asset management system from Square Box Systems when integrated with a XenData Archive, provides a powerful and cost effective solution for management and long term retention of video assets on either LTO or Sony Optical Disc Archive (ODA) cartridges.

    Eric-

Being forced to move to new technology, as opposed to it being an option, is never a great feeling. Their are several great solutions out there for you. I am happy to talk offline about some great low cost products & workflows. While Piston Media Group is a reseller & integrator, our primary focus is being a resource for our customers first and foremost. Please feel free to reach out to me any time and we can discuss your needs, and hopefully at least get you some information that can make you feel that you are making an educated and confident choice moving forward with a new solution.

    Thanks and best of luck!

I can see where you have many areas to be concerned about. There are a couple of suggestions I have. First would be to move all of your media assets to an external drive, even if temporary, until you have a solution you feel comfortable with. If your Cache-A device is still reading currently, you should be able to do this with no issues. This way, you buy yourself time to find and educate yourself on some options that would be the right fit moving forward. Second, Piston Media Group offers a wide range of solutions when it come to storage and archive of media. While we are a reseller and integrator, our biggest focus is on being a resource for our customers and making sure they feel that they are making educated and confident decisions with their media technology and workflows. Please feel free to reach out to me any time and we can talk about your current obstacles and some possible low cost solutions for you to look into. In the mean time, I wish you the best of luck in getting your problem solved so you can get back to focusing on what you more than likely do best, being creative.

    June 13, 2016 at 12:23 am in reply to: Is HP Z1 G3 All-in-one Avid-qualified?

    Joyce-

Being an Avid reseller & systems integrator, we have a lot of experience integrating HP solutions with Avid Media Composer. I would have to agree, although it is technically qualified, it may not be the best experience for the user. Which in the long run could cost more time and money than it would cost to go with a “Z” qualified workstation. I am happy to assist you in any way we can in your research on different systems that may best suit your needs. Please feel free to reach out at any time. I will also provide a link to some of our turnkey edit systems we offer. Or we can always spec something out specifically for your needs. Best of luck!
