Even though my query netted a whopping zero replies, I found the answer to my question, and I thought I would share. It turns out that there is a piece of software — not sure exactly what it’s called — that an institution can buy from Avid that does exactly what I was wondering about. Basically it tracks what everyone is doing whenever they’re on their machine, at the keystroke level. Fascinating stuff. And sort of weirdly clandestine.
