    Thank you so much!

    Saved me a lot of pain and frustration.

    Marvelous!

    I was just about to come back with a problem where the number wont change as the video goes on because the beams are parented to the Null which changes scale/position/rotation but not start and end points.

    Is there, by any chance, a simple way for the output to be to fewer decimal places? If not it’s ok as is.

    Thank you once again!

    Aha, that’s what i was doing!

    I was using the rotate option in the layers down the bottom rather than adjusting the starting and end points of the beam itself.

    Thank you very much, this will help me a lot!

    In the current situation, the expression is outputting “0”

    I’ve tried moving the beams and rotating them but no change.

    Ok thank you, I’ll play about with it and see what I get.

    ok so all of
    beam1 = thisComp.layer(“Beam Layer”).effect(“Beam”);
    beam2 = thisComp.layer(“Beam Layer”).effect(“Beam 2”);
    v1 = beam1(“Ending Point”) – beam1(“Starting Point”);
    v2 = beam2(“Ending Point”) – beam2(“Starting Point”);
    radiansToDegrees(Math.acos(dot(normalize(v1),normalize(v2))))

    goes into the text layer, as long as my two beam layers are called ‘beam1’ and ‘beam2’?

    And which layer(s) should i put this into?
    I don’t use expressions that often, so i’m a little new to this.

    At the moment I am using Generate>Beam, but is there is a better way i’m all for it.

  • The hexagonal tubes are my attempt to contain the light so that when viewed from the other side, it looks like illuminated hexagons, not light spots.

    Are you thinking that with slight alteration to the Xpresso I have, put that on every light as an individual, not trying to control all lights at once?

    Well currently there are 35 lights. 5 rows, 7 columns as seen in the picture. I don’t plan on adding more.

  • It will look somewhat similar, but in hexagon shapes.

    I will fit it so that the light shines through the blue glass and you see the hexagon shape and not a round blob, but it’s simply just for a test.

    here is a copy of my project file if you wish to tinker.
