I think you can achieve this pretty quickly by using the Roto Brush in After Effects:

However…don’t just jump in and attempt to use it. The Roto Brush is not intuitive – you need to learn the technique, which shouldn’t take more than a couple of viewings of the tutorials and help, and a practice run.

Here’s something to try Brian, although I don’t guarantee that it will work. Select the file(s) you want to accept metadata. Then right click and select “Purge Cache for Selection”. Try this with one file, and, if it works, select multiple files and your problem is solved.
Bear in mind that some files are not compatible with Bridge XMP Metadata. If not, submit a feature request to Adobe. Here’s some good info on Metadata from the Bridge help files:

Try tv.adobe.com and then do a sort by Channels. There’s a lot of good stuff there. Lynda.com also has a wealth of training materials, well categorized, and well presented. You’ll also find a wealth of training materials right her on the COW:

Is your Optical Flare on a 3D layer, and is the 3D layer in the same coordinates (especially in Z space) as the layer you want it to look as if it’s locked to? You’ll want to put it as close as possible in Z space (without sharing the same Z coordinate as the “light” you’re emulating – maybe 1 or 2 pixels in front of it. Optical Flares definitely work with 3D layers, so it should work.

My guess is that Trapcode Form (Red Giant Software) was used. I say that because it appears that the waveform is actually reacting to the audio, rather than animated to match it – Form has this capability:

Have you enabled the plugin, and is the plugin in the correct folder for Audition to see it? It sounds as if the plugin might be in the wrong folder, but that would be odd, since you’re seeing it in the Effects menu:

While it’s pretty cool looking, spend a couple of hours using it, and you’ll find it’s a cool looking torture device. No apparent padding for the shoulders or padded grips for the hands? Come on!
You can find these for from 29.95 to 75 dollars in a number of places. I suggest you don’t spend more than 35 bucks for it – try it out – see how it works for your equipment – then either put it in the closet, or use it all the time. I have one, and while it’s not a Cadillac, it allows you to work with one hand (or even no hands), and is quite well balanced:
