Your platform is somewhere around 3-4 years out of date. There are several factors in play that will thwart your efforts. Back that far, Resolve did not offer any work-arounds that started opening the door to using a DVI/Thunderbolt path with the goal of being able to use the GUI preview as a judgement display. Even now, it does take a specific monitor profile and LUT to get an operator into the ballpark, where the preview will start to resemble your actual output. The premise remains that the unadulterated shortest path to a robust and trustworthy rendition is passed through a Blackmagic I/O device, whether it is internal or not.
Something to check out would be to consult the Configuration Guide for Resolve8 — it might be archived somewhere — probably more than a few of us have it hanging around in our downloads bin that we haven’t gotten around to trashing yet. There may be some legacy output boxes, but whether they are still supported or available would be up to the resellers or the usual online used products sites. We’ve always been sort of threading a narrow path with all the various I/O options. Its too bad that the company with the fruit-with-the-bite-taken-out-of-it logo has basically carried on with its scorched-earth policy of simply dropping support or not offering back-compatibility with many of its products.

The OP cross-posted this to another forum and has opted for a dpx workflow… last time I checked, anyway. Seems to be locked into a sequential-file workflow for some reason.

What could possibly go wrong?
“1) It has to be effectively lossless.”
“2) It has to be compatible with Resolve.”

Good, Fast, Cheap prevails. ProRes 422 and DNxHD X would be good choices… both are 10-bit containers. You will be looking at about 1 GB per minute, so in your case the final file size will be around 15 GB. Probably about 16-24 hours to upload with moderately capable net subscriptions — kind of looks like you would need Aspera service as most consumer-level file sharing does not go above 2 GB at a time — some “Pro-sumer” level file-sharing services allow up to 10 GB at a time for $120 per year. FedEx would be faster and cheaper.

There is no best option / budget trade off when you are under a deadline and the system isn’t working at all.
B&H have provided some reasonable advice IMO, if you have provided them with an adequate description of what they are trying to reconcile — reconfiguring an existing system that doesn’t work. It looks like a workable solution and you should be able to work at least in HD.

Is this a Mac or Windows hardware platform?
You should check the Resolve configuration guide appropriate to your hardware… in the case of the CUDA alert, Compute Unified Device Architecture is indigenous to nVidia GPUs and not relevant to your card.
Later versions of Resolve do support OpenCL on qualified ATI cards… the 5770 is very popular, and recommended by BlackMagic Design.

Conceivable to overlay a “Black Movie with subtitles” exported from something like MacCaption, which is what I would normally do and advise it I wanted to master out of Resolve.
The thing with subtitles, though, is that there are so many variables — language, X-Y formatting, (centre/ lower third/ upper, etc.) that no one single file is going to satisfy all requirements. You will want to keep it editable because somebody is going to want to change the font, or the edge boldness, or something.
I like being able to embed stl files in DVDs and BluRays — NOT burn in the titles if I can help it. Nice feature of Encore, to be able to open a subtitle cell and fix it.

So the way to re-access your RAW files in Resolve is to re-create the list by washing it through Premiere as Glenn suggests — then export either an XML or AAF (if possible) that will at least call the sequence. If not you will perhaps be forced to hand-compile an EDL of some sort (paper edit? — when was the last time you heard that term?).
