That’s great, I hope Harry’s suggestion fixes it. The weird thing is, of all the years I’ve been using DVDSP, I have NEVER had this problem. And I always check my DVDs from beginning to end, and no out of sync audio or slipping of sync, etc.

It could still be the simple fact that a HDD is dying too. I think that happened to me before: having speed issues, nothing was coming up saying the drive was bad or dying, then one day it did, I replaced it, and suddenly all’s good.

Yes, that is what I meant, megabit, sorry about that. You are correct that it is a variable bitrate codec, thus the reason why I’ve been able to edit ProRes 422 from FW800 as well. From what I understand, that seems to be the “target data rate,” which I’m assuming is the max.

But this too is limited, if I’m running too many video tracks, or doing anything slightly heavy, the drive can’t keep up. Editing with 422 HQ, my software striped internal RAID 5 crumbled under the pressure, even though SATA is supposed to give you 200mb/s, and ProRes is variable. I’ve changed it up with faster throughput, and have not had any problems since, so through experience, I can only assume that all of those factors: cable, drive, interface, throughput and inherent bottlenecks, number of video streams, effects and filters, were all culprits to my problem at the time. And as we all know, having enough speed makes a huge difference in how your system performs with certain codecs.
Although I don’t layback to tape, I still prefer to be able to watch down my entire timeline without problems, at high resolution, no dropped frames or less frames, especially when I’m CC’ing and finalizing the project before output. I guess that’s just how I need to work to feel like I’m maintaining quality.

Huh, maybe, but I doubt it. I always output with compression markers if I know I’m going to DVD or BluRay. But that shouldn’t mess up your sync.

No the problem is that the audio specs have not lined up from the beginning. Did you also change your sequence settings before you dropped in your WAV file?

Yes. Maybe something was amiss from before while Compressor had to full the media. If it’s self contained, it might get it to work right. I could be wrong. Report back.

Which will happen when you change the specs. Maybe you can change the sequence settings and the WAV file will suddenly magically fall into place? Not sure if this would work.
I don’t know of any other workaround other than adjusting your edit to the WAV file, because ultimately, that is the file you will be using, correct?
I tend to avoid MP3’s if I can help it anyways. I always try to get the audio file in the specs I need, and then start the cutting.

Try it and report back, but I’m skeptical that will help.
And I’m not sure why exporting a QT self contained would be “too large.” What exactly is happening? What are your specs and settings? More info will be useful.
