    Hi Sean,

I’m going to make several assumptions about this project – please correct me if I’m mistaken.

    1. You’re wanting to use PFHoe’s 3D motion tracking ability to drive the motion of AE’s comp camera. (I didn’t know about the app, but read a little about it – sounds cool.)

    2. You’re using Invigorator to generate your 3D text and have chosen to use AE’s comp camera rather than Invigorator’s own internal camera.

    3. What you describe sounds like the comp camerra seeing the 2D plane onto which the Invig effect is applied. I believe the issue you’re having relates to a limitation of what happens when you check the “use comp camera” button. Invigorator’s 3D objects live in a space that’s separate from AE’s 3D space… and the illusion that they’re the same can fall apart in certain conditions.

I might suggest that you apply the camera motion data from PFHoe to Invigorator’s native camera. I think you may get better results.

    Hi Brian,

ProAnimator models can be exported to ElectricImage or Lightwave. However, I am not aware of any method of exporting the project file data – including motion paths, etc. – in a way that EI or LW could import.

I have older versions of EI – its rendering engine was always wicked fast. I can’t speak to how its speed compares to other apps now, however.

    William,

You could uninstall, but I wouldn’t suggest that.

ProAnimator and Invigorator share the same modeling and texturing abilities – for the most part. However, their animation controls and abilities are really not the same. Each has advantages in certain situations.

You might contact tech support for this issue.

May 22, 2008 at 12:26 am in reply to: Using Video as a layer map getting stretched out

    Hi quinnmcguee,

I don’t recall that specific example, but I would suggest putting the video layer into a precomp that is in the aspect ratio of the edge you’re trying to map. Make the precomp small enough so it essentially crops the video image. You may need to add more than one video layer and orient them next to eachother to get the correct portion of the video to appear on the appropriate edge.

The basic rule is the edge starts from the lowest, leftest corner and wraps all the way around the object.

If the aspect ratio is correct, you’ll get no distortion.

    Does this help?

    Hi William,

I have no reason to believe one app would impact the other. By chance are you rendering interlaced video? If so, it can look like it “flickers” on progressive-scan monitors like your computer monitor. To see what’s happening for sure, try watching your video on the intended device.

    Hi abie,

Is there anything about these fonts that makes them different from the rest of the fonts in your font folder? Some foreign characters have been issues in the past. I’m Mac-based, so I can’t provide much help if this is a Windows OS-related issue.

    Tim,

I can’t help with the first part, but you can use pretty much any font you want with Invigorator. Simply add it to your font folder and restart Invigorator. It should show up.

    William,

I haven’t heard of this issue. Providing more info about software versions and system hardware may provide some clues.

  • Hi Tom,

Your cube may very well look gray in draft mode – but when you render in best quality you’ll see the materials applied correct.

    Hi Roger,

That’s really strange. All works fine for me using a sphere primitive and reflection map.

Send me your project file if you want.
