    Hi Tim,

None I can think of – besides, you’re not giving up your Invigorator license, right?

The modeling and texturing abilities are almost identical – you gain several advantages including the fact that PA is also a stand-alone.

The motion control systems are different – each has pros and cons. Personally, I’d take PA if I had to choose just one of these great apps.

If you have an doubt, try out the demo.

    Hi Ken,

Sounds like a really great project. I’d love to see it when you’re done.

One thought: Instead of trying to manipulate the spin with ProAnimator, have you considered animating the movie of what’s mapped to the cylinder and leaving the cylinder static? You might get much more control without the limitations ProAnimator’s motion control system creates in this unique circumstance.

    Hi John,

I’m not sure there’s an easier way than working through each layer and precomp and looking at the timeline for effects or keyframes, or the effects control panel to see what effects are applied to each layer or precomp. You might try using the shortcut for revealing keyframes in your timeline The U hotkey shows all animated keyframes in a layer.

How many layers are we talking about?

    Hi Lee,

As you’ve discovered the Invigorator layer should not be turned into a 3D AE layer.

What’s happening under the hood when you check “use comp camera” is that Invig’s camera is linked to the comp camera. You’re actually using the comp camera to steer the Invig camera, because AE and Invigorator are operating in separate 3D space. When you turn the Invig layer into a 3D AE layer, it messes up the relationship.

Why not make the plane inside of Invigorator and use Invig’s own camera to fly past the words? It could simplify the project for you, though I’d have to think about the reflection part for a moment.

    Hi Jay,

Am I correct in assuming the screw is the only object in your set? If so, select it and recenter the pivot point. Once you do that, the pivot point will be in the center of the object, top to bottom and left to right. You should now be able to apply rotation to the set and have it work the way you want.

    Hi Uri,

Take a look at Serge’s Invigomany product. He’s figured out a way. You can also search the web for ball textures. Quite a while ago, I found a site offering several good ones that would work on a sphere.

  • Hi Dan,

You can create the colors on the pin using the material set-up and splitting the custom edge into three parts… white bottom, red stripe and white top. You can apply the logo to the edge too, but it’ll take some trial and error to get it to fit right.

I would use layermapping to do this. Create a precomp using the aspect ratio of the surface of the pin and put the logo in it. You will then be able to position the logo where you want it to be.

I can go into more detail if you need it.
