Are you talking about the circle 19? The trick is to make the front face very narrow and/or use the edge offset to make it essentially disappear.

January 11, 2008 at 5:21 am in reply to: Invigorator Text to Fit Around a Round Object?Hi Tom,
It is possible but fairly labor intensive. I would recommend starting at the end of the animation, manually placing the text where it needs to be, and working backwards. Use the “top view” to see that the letters are properly angled around the ribbon.

Maybe something to release by NAB time? I too have been watching for some news for a very long time on this. I suppose I should ask whether it’s being developed for Macs, Windows or both. Curious minds want to know.

Hi Judy,
What’s not good about your results? The stepped images you see in your still frames will normally appear to smooth out and look great in your finished movie.

Mike,
That’s odd- send me the Illustrator file if you want.

Hi Mike,
Are the colors normal filled solids with rgb color applied? If they’re colors made up of blends, gradients, etc, those won’t come across. Instead, you’ll have to create tga image maps and apply them to the front face.
Does this help?

January 4, 2008 at 2:33 pm in reply to: How can make transparent/Glass sphere in Zaxwerks? This helps.
First question – are you looking at the sphere in best-quality rendering mode? The transparency won’t show up in draft mode.
Second question, be sure you’ve applied the material you’re modifying to the object. (Drag the material ball swatch onto the object – one way to do it.)
If that doesn’t solve it, go ahead and email me. jokerstrom1 (at) mac.com.

Which part of making it a clear glass globe is giving you trouble? Try applying one of the default glass materials to the sphere and adjust the reflectivity, transparency, and specular highlight to taste. The reflection map you choose or make will also have a big impact on the believability of your project.

January 3, 2008 at 1:43 am in reply to: do object sizes affect rendering time? how much?Hi NguyenCat Le ,
Lots of things can affect rendering speed… the number and complexity of the 3D objects, the size of the bit-mapped images you’re applying to the objects, the type of rendering you’re using (native or OpenGL), the processing ability of your computer, and of course, whether you use motion blur. Also, whatever else is going on in your comp could cause a hit.
Having said all of that, the estimated rendering time sounds really high.
If the rest of your comp is really complicated and intense, you might try rendering just the 3D objects alone and compositing the movie into the rest of the scene.
I would not advise rendering smaller objects and trying to scale the resulting movie to fit a larger comp. You’ll lose detail and sharpness.
Tell us more about your system and your project and we may be able to give more specific advice.

Hi Sam,
ProAnimator needs vector-based artwork in Illustrator format. Putting a bit-mapped Photoshop image into an Illustrator document and saving it as an Illustrator document won’t do this.
If you have a bit-mapped image, you need to trace it in Illustrator to create a vector-based version. Generally, it’s cleaner to do it manually than to use Illustrator’s autotrace function.
You can certainly apply the bit-mapped image to the 3D shape you create.
Does this help?
