I’d try enabling the “preserve resolution when nested” checkbox, under the Advanced Composition Settings.

For the overlapping lines, I would separate the lines into their own layers in AI, then import the AI file into AE as a composition. Set each imported layer’s blending mode to “Add”. That will make any overlap in the layers brighter.

For the glow, use an adjustment layer with the glow effect over top of all layers. Or pre-comp all layers, and apply the effect to the comp.
