While not specifically what you are asking, I bought a pair of Audio Technica 3350 lavs for $20 a piece. They have an 1/8 inch jack and a 1/4 adapter and plug directly into my camera. I’m not an audio guy but I still need to have audio solutions that work. Point is I spent $20 versus say $300 for my zoom h4n, but it easier to record direct to the camera in some cases. Oh and the 20 foot cable doesn’t hurt either.

Consider getting your own forms for releases, too. Put a bit in there about the individual allowing you the rights as well as agents, assigns, etc. Do an online search for the Getty talent and property releases for some great starting points – the Getty ones are also binding because they require a witness.

12kG might be pushing it for weight tolerance considering there aren’t any cross-members in the illustration I did. I was thinking of a lightweight video or DSLR camera which is only a couple kilos. For 12kg, just to be safe, consider going with wood or aluminum. You can also use one of these multipurpose adjustable ladders: https://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=203229033&sellerid=23348424 – I’ve used these for all sorts of things including a makeshift riser for dolly/track and they are light and very strong. May have to get 2 to make this work for your bed scenario.

None of the Canons I’ve worked with do or they are sorta (on playback, they give you a more or less clean signal, but not during live shooting – considering these cameras are being asked to do WAY more than they were ever designed for, its pretty logical). Supposedly, the new Nikon (don’t remember the model # as I’m a Canon guy) with give a clean signal and the camera runs about $6k – too little to late, I think as there are more full-featured, large sensor video cameras out now and that trend will continue and for that money, you can pick up a couple 7Ds with lenses.
For that kinda money, I’d say rent a Red, an AF100, or the C300 when they come out. If you really want to test, most of the major Canon, Sony, Panasonic and Nikon DSLR models are available for rental for very little money for a weekend so its easy to do some fast side-by-side comparisons.

I’m pretty sure this is a job for Lawyer Man! It will depend entirely on the wording of your contract and how it pertains to existing copyright law. I would go to your state’s bar website, find a local IP attorney (ask for rates and see if they offer any sort of free consultation or if they can do a quick phone consultation). Maybe yes maybe no. Worse case, it’s worth the couple extra bucks to find out right now from an expert rather than guess wrong for free. What is your time and footage worth?
Finally, see of you can renegotiate the deal so you can use the footage for self-promotion. Also, I’m pretty sure unless explicitly stated, you have the right to display your work for self-promotion no matter what you create. Remember, as creator of a work of art, you retain the copyright unless you formally re-assign it to someone else. But, again, spend $50 and talk to a lawyer.

Yes it’s possible. Very possible. I’ve run 4 audio xlr cable to a device that converts the audio for inclusion into cubase or protools which spit the audio to 4 channels for simultaneous recording. If you plan to mix the audio and then sync with live video youre better off getting a board to handle it all with a laptop doing the final recording. I find it easier to mix the audio before it gets to the laptop and then sync up the video and audio, but, like you, I’m totally self-taught and I’m drawing off what works for me.
The only real question isn’t can it be done, but what’s the budget? Go to B&H for starters and check out the live event forums for video. You will want some decent lav mics – I like Sennheiser, but there’s tons on the market. You need transmitters and receivers and a board to run the audio to (or a device that converts the audio for an audio app), the audio app itself, some good pro headphones (none of that Bose crap!), the laptop, and id suggest at least 1 omni mic for ambient sound but it’s not totally necessary. Sky’s the limit on price, unfortunately and the more the organization can spend the better.

Well, it all depends on you and the job. What do you have to do? What does the job entail? You’ve given vague job info. Can you send the job description? Also, will you have to live in NY or commute (most likely commute)? Also, look into housing costs, transportation costs, food costs, etc. Look it up at salary.com, too.

If you make them large i don’t see any reason to bring into AE. You can make an image sequence in AE if you want too. I was thinking of potential memory issues is all.
