Thanks for the response. To answer your question. I don’t think it is a frame rate issue as i’ve changed the comp and render frame rates to that of the clip.

To answer your question, the files play fine on my computer. In terms of where did the files come from, they’re from my Sony Handcam HDD HD camcorder. Interestingly, I have to change the extension to avi from mpg as ae won’t recognize the mpg file at all and comes up with the error ‘an unspecified avi or directshow error occurred. (1) (53 :: 33).

This is probably more confusing but i’m really stuck here and if i can’t get round this issue it will end my fun with ae. Really appreciate any help here.

Thanks for the advice. There does seem to be a slight improvement but it still stutters badly. I’ve purged the cache and switched off disk caching.

Could it be codec problem? I also get an error from after effects saying ‘no such AVI compressor’ when I try to import other AVI files. Any suggestions would be great?
