Final Cut will conform your clips based on the project properties. This is usually set automatically by the first clip you add to the timeline. You can also set it manually. It is usually best to make the project settings match the predominate frame rate you are using. I have not personally worked this way much, but this article may prove helpful to you. It goes into detail on the different methods FCP X gives you with conforming the mixed frame rates.

You can export the podcast audio from FCP very easily. In the export window, go to to the settings tab and choose “Audio Only” from the drop down menu. Your codec settings will be replaced with audio settings (mp3, AIFF, WAV). This will not take long at all compared to the video, and you can even have it set to do this while the video is exporting.

As for the video, unless you need to have a clean Master file saved, use the Vimeo preset like Bret said. It will even save you the trouble of uploading the video to Vimeo.

I assume then that using a separate app to apply metadata is not what you are looking for?

If you are coming directly off a card or camera archive, you can go through each clip in the import window and set in and out points. You would of course have to go in and name the clips in the browser, but the in/outs would already be set. Hope this helps.

I use both, and it depends on the job as well as who I am working with. Dynamic linking in AE is great and Motion lacks this really great feature. You can share projects into FCP X, but its not nearly as flexible as AE. However, Camera behaviors in Motion make animating a scene with the camera a breeze. Especially when time is a factor, camera behaviors save hours of time, especially if lots of unexpected changes are involved.
