Hi there,
I just started an online business for selling stock footage last year. I’m actually a full-time graphic designer but started it to make some extra cash on the side. You can find us at the link below.

To answer your questions about my experiences so far please see below.
Is it a sideline? Are you making it part of your core business?
Yup, completely the core of my business, and source of revenue. As I mentioned, it is a side job though.
Who are you working with?
When I first started, I thought of going through a vendor to sell my footage like Video Blocks. But after submitting to a few places, my footage never sold or got noticed on their sites. So as of now, I’m just selling through my website.
What are you selling?
Primarily nature shots, household items. Anything that is easy to record and looks nice. I also recorded some visual effects/overlays like sparks and bokeh.
And how’s it going?
Okay, since I just started I’m getting my feet wet. The only problem I’m running into is trying to find the customers that want my product. Where are they, and how to convince them it’s a good deal. It’s also hard to compete against the big companies like Shutterstock, Digital Juice, and VideoBlocks. Especially trying to get noticed via SEO.
