  • You dont understand, that this is the FIRST version of a new program.

The only mistake that Apple made, is the title of the it.

If it was Extreme Cut 1 or anything else, everyone would be MORE than OK.

I dont EVER any effect on my NLE (Avid, FCP or Premiere) , i alwayw do them in AE or Motion.

  • Dont you think , those controls are enough for a NLE program ?
If you want more control, you can get Motion 5 for 49!!!

Wfter effects, is more expensive than both of them …

  • Mine, crashed once or twice, but never lost anything…

And by the way, you use 10 years the old godd FCP , and trying to to do the smae things with the same way is WRONG.

You have to think different (if you want).

FCP is a mature OLd programm , that does YOUR job well.

BUT not mine… its painfully slow , FCPX is FASTER on everything.

I can import without transcode anything (many hours lost with FCP).

I can import any music, photo with a click .

I can find anything with a simple search.

I can have ALL of my media in EVERY project .

I can use or NOT magnetic timeline if i want .

I can make better adjustments in audio ( i didnt used Soundtrack PRo ever)… now i have Logic effects inside my NLE .

    etc, etc….

There are more things i can do, and some i cant do…

    I prefer to move on….

I am a PRO , but i dont mind to call someone young (as the childs on youtube who biught FCPX) PRO or anything…
He is the future, and if he can make BETTER videos than me , he is a PRO !

You said , that WE supported Apple many years now (with FCP etc) , the same thing those kids support Apple NOW.

We are the past, they are the future…. so simple.

If you dont like FCPX or you cant use it in every dayw projects , move to other programms.

I am using ALL of the NLE , Avic composer, Adobe Premiere CS5 and of course FCP.

In MY projects , i wiil use FCPX….

  • Did you tried it at all ?

There are handles in every keyframe, not just smooth in/out… you can mix linear – curved keyframes etc., search for it ….

  • For retimming , you have many options…

You can select for example the area in you clip (by pressing R and drag the selection) , then goto retiming options and choose ramp from / to 0%.
Then you have 4 segments , that you can change to make smooth retimings.
If you choose a better video quality , (optical flow – frame blending) you have very smooth retimings.

I think you haven’t understand what is storyline , connected clips etc…

The main storyline (video track if you want) is the black track , Roll A.
An you clip you connect in it , is connected in the clip in the main storyline (track A) and not to each other.

If you want a second storyline (track B) , you have to select both clips (blue + green) and make them a storyline (by pressing command + G) .

In this storyline , you have all the benefits of magnetic timeline !

  • For effects you can, see here.

  • You make something wrong…. see here.

  • Of course you can control keyframes…

Just go to the viewer panel, choose a keyframe and then right click on it.
The you can change from Linear, Smooth, and Hold.

Its good to read the manual some times…
