Ernie — thanks for quick response.
What model nano do you use — and how does it mount to the 900?
Is the nano something you have to attach each time (like we do with the FS) or have you devised a way to leave it attached so that you can put it in the camera carry bag without disassembling?
Thank you,
JR -
Ernie,
Having forgotten most of what I read about nanoflash a year or so ago – – what format/frame rate do you use?
Shooting with 900 as well, to FS 100.
Am tired of worry about the fw connection during the shoot, and looking at the nano.
Thank you. -

As the owner of an HDX900 I would love to see the forum expanded.
There is no forum here for the 900, but plenty of common issues for those using FS, nanoflash, etc.
Thank you,

Scott, thank you for that.
Unfortunate — and puzzling. Tape plays back in the viewfinder — but I suppose that’s somehow an internal function, and not thru the firewire? -
Found the answer if anyone else has similar situation.
Neglected to configure FS under the SETUP>VFR>3OPN setting. -
Ray,
I own an HDX900.
The camera takes beautiful pictures as you know, but I can count on one hand the times I’ve used the tape.
It’s great to have as a backup — but I use the FS 100 attached to the top (with a specially designed cable). I’m careful, have had none of the cable jiggle issues others have had to date — and have in that respect been file-based since I started using the FS 100. I just drag the QT files to a hard drive, and then drag the reference files into FCP.
The one issue I have is weight. The 900, with an AB 140 on the back plus the FS, and a small light — is hefty in the field.
Long story short – I’d like to move to the file-based 2700, get better pictures, and lose some weight.
It seems to me you have the best of all worlds. Why not get the 2700, move to file-based, but roll off finished product to tape (assuming you have either a 1200 or 1400 deck)? You could also keep a ‘best of’ raw tape master reel and add to it as you go along.
That might ease your concern?

ernie,
really appreciate this thread.
i’m looking at the nanoflash too down the road.
right now i’ve been using the FS100 — and have had no ‘loose cabling’ issues such as others have had. i did get a cable made especially for the the 900 though — paid a good nickel for it — it’s worked great.
but solid state, smaller, and better picture is hard to ignore.
thanks,

Not having done this before … how does one go about loading these settings?
Thank you,

ah jeez! … i don’t feel silly or anything.
thank you john.
