YES! That is the most important point of all. MAGIX seems to be very customer driven. This is good news.

It’s not about gating the sound. The silence indicates areas of the video to be removed. So you want something that will cut out the parts with silence.

If these are AVCHD files, FCP X is expecting to see the same directory structure that was on the camera card. You need the entire contents of the camera card not just the video files for the import to be successful.
AVCHD -> BDMV -> STREAM -> (video files)
Is that what you have?

If you disabled resample there would be no frame blending… it would just drop frames to match the rate needed.

You need the whole thing for Vegas Pro to work. Even if you just rename the QuickTime Player.exe it doesn’t work. Vegas Pro needs the QuickTime Player for some reason.

That was 4 years ago. The FCP X of today is vastly different from the first version that spawned those reviews. You really owe it to yourself to take a look. Download the free trial and see for yourself or watch some training videos to understand the new workflow. It’s an extremely productive editing experience.

No it does not. If you have Create optimized media checked it will create ProRes files, but if you uncheck that option, it will simply re-wrap the AVC/H.264 video into a QuickTime container. What you will have in your Original Media folder is a Quicktime MOV file with the original H.264 video in it with no loss of quality. This happens in a matter of seconds after importing. You must have Create optimized media check which is why you are getting ProRes files generated.

Well… 1 out of 4 isn’t bad. lol 😀
To be clear about the threat. No one has seen an exploit yet. In theory, someone could create a video that exploits the vulnerability and do unknown things to your computer but you would have to download and play the malicious video for that to happen. As long as you are only using QuickTime with Movie Studio, you are pretty safe.

I would just disable resample and render to 23.976. The difference in time will never be noticed. It amounts to 1 second every 42 minutes.
