    Thanks Margus,

Are there any test reports or User Reviews that you are aware of?

I am particularly interested in the quality of the SD down conversion.

    Also,

Is it possible with this device to monitor the output from the HD SDI of the camera via HDMI to an external field monitor while recording in SD at the same time?

    Thanks,

    John

He is probably using it as an intermediate file because it is essentially lossless. As an alternative try Huffy UV. It’s just as good.

    Danny,

Have you had a chance to use any of these for serious music recording? Enough to recommend one over the other?

I buy a lot from Newegg. They also take care of their customers. For example:

Bought a 32GB Sandisk Ultra (II)for my Sony EX1 from them and they sent the Ultra instead. The product number on the Ultra and the Ultra II are apparently the same except that the Ultra doesn’t work and the Ultra II does. Newegg paid for return shipping and credited my card in full.

Are you talking about short length HD DVDs that can fit on a single or DL DVD-R or are you talking about using HD DVD blank media. You can do it yourself with inexpensive software such as DVD Movie Factory 6 plus.

You or a customer may not like the results after using Spyder software. Visual results depend upon the mode selected as well as break in periods for Plasmas, room lighting, etc for projectors, and so on. You may be better off using ane of the many DVDs available and your eyes.

    Thanks Mike,

WEP does seem to simplify the process. That link you provided is interesting. I guess for a person like myself that rarely creates a website simple software is probably right for me.

    Thanks again,

  • Just ran into a similar problem. It happened on three tapes for a recital. One day shoot unfortunately. But it wasn’t from dirty heads. I wound and rewound the tapes beforehand with a DV deck that was giving me trouble (ejecting and shutting down). I am not sure if that scratched the tapes, but that in fact is exactly what happened. The first 12-20 minutes of each of three tapes were scratched at an angle across the surface. I manually turned the tapes and saw it. Cut right across the tape surface in random spots for the first 12-20 minutes.

I doubt that the tapes came that way, although I haven’t completely ruled that out.
