Thanks Jarad.

It took me all day but I finally “GOT ER DONE”! Finally found a site that walked me through entering computer code which reset the start up screen. That allowed me to make a new admin password which allowed me to start the ball rolling, thank goodness.

Now all I have to do is solve all the other issues. (Film at eleven).

Thanks John,

It’s especially sad considering he also has an external drive I had asked him to evaluate some months ago and have never heard back. The drive isn’t worth much but the photos, music and software are not replaceable.

Guess I’ll have to open it on the MBP, copy to jump drive and work with it on the mac pro. Tried using mpeg stremeclip without success.

I’m using Final Cut Studio for editing, along with After Effects & Photoshop, all old.

Any thoughts as to why it (DVD) wouldn’t get recognized with Snow Leopard or Lion?

I was thinking it may be my old OS (Snow Leopard). It does play on my MBP with El Capitan, though. Just found a ripper called handbreak and was going to try that but all my software for editing won’t work on the MBP…

I was wondering if that’s why I couldn’t install it (the app store verifying it). Was also thinking of bypassing the router. But the new Lion install would want to register via internet, right?

Is there any way to copy/transfer from the MP to MBP? That’s really what I want since I have that set up the way I like. The only reason I can’t use time machine is because it is on a 1tb drive along with Snow Leopard. I partitioned the drive…

Thanks John. Didn’t think I’d ever hear back on this…

I am currently visiting family and can’t reload the link. However, I believe the reason I was unable to load the OSX is due to the fact that it is no longer available on the app store. I noticed that while the drive was trying to load it went to the app store, apparently looking for Lion. When it didn’t find it is when the error pop up was displayed.

I first thought I could use migration but could not get that to work. I did not use time machine, rather, I used carbon copy cloner. Haven’t tried to use target mode yet to install Lion on the MBP but will when I return home.

Thanks again and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, Using my MBP with Snow Leopard; That loaded with no trouble. :}
