I asked this a few weeks ago. It is:

I have not tried this, but can you just untar it (with something like 7zip) and ZIP it instead?

I’ve encountered this as well. I assumed the tracking data would be tied to the timecode or something, but it seems this is not the case. Versioning works, but obviously any changes to the secondary is then not matched to the other shots which is kind of a disappointment.

That is doable. Did you keep the same filenames when you rendered the one-light stuff?
Try a Reconform from Folders. Import your XML and have it bring in the one-light footage. Then in your media pool, create a new folder under ROOT and import your original footage inside this new folder. Then right-click in the Resolve timeline and choose “Reconform from Folders.” See page 150 of the Resolve manual.

You can get a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card for under $200 USD (among other options) to send the video to the second monitor. Otherwise, Resolve does not seem up support multiple monitors at this point.

Anyway, it sounds like I may have made you angry, and I apologize if I did. That was not at all my intention. I understand clients like this stuff, and my earlier post was more of an eyeroll at the “we’ll fix it in post” mentality of many clients and film students than anything else.

I’ll never understand why people go through so much trouble to try to make their stuff look like film. If you want your footage to look like film, why not shoot it on film?
If I want my chicken to taste like steak, I don’t coat it in A1, I grill a freakin’ steak.

There’s been a lot of discussion about this on Creative Cow. Walt Biscardi wrote a great article about the shakeup since FCP X you may find interesting. Personally, I think since Apple is finding such success with their iDevices, they no longer see the need to pay much attention to the pro market.
But anyway, about a PC: Consult the Black Magic Configuration Guide here for ideas. Personally, at home my PC currently has 16GB RAM, two Nvidia GTX 580s, Intel Core i7 870 overclocked to 3.2GHz, and Black Magic Intensity Pro for monitoring and it is just fantastic with Resolve Lite and Avid Media Composer 6.

Seconding this. You could build a killer PC with two GPUs for less money than the cheapest option you’re looking at currently.
