    Hey Everyone,

After speaking with Canon Customer / Technical Support as well as Sony Technical Support, the conclusion is that it is most likely bad tape stock (Sony’s fault).

I am sending my tape to Sony Media Services ( https://www.SonyMediaServices.com ) for review. Hopefully they can salvage SOMETHING from the tape!

I have informed my client of the situation and they were, thankfully, understanding of the situation and agreed to having a free promotional video edited from the stills I took that night.

I’ll let you know what Sony Media Services conclusion is once I receive my tape back.

I, too, had the same problem recently.

Recorded to the DVM63HDR tapes in Canon’s 1080 30f format.

I would turn the camera off and back on in between record sessions (for a live event) and the timecode would pick back up where I left off on the LCD screen.

I go to capture the footage the next day and, to my surprise, there is a BLUE SCREEN with NO TIMECODE!

I called Canon Tech Support and they suggested I try alternate Canon camcorders capable of playing back 30f, but still no luck.

I did a bunch of troubleshooting; recorded to a Sony Master , played back on XH A1, all works fine.

Go to put the DVM63HDR tape in and still get a blue screen.

This is very discouraging as I had recorded a live event and now have to tell the client there is NO FOOTAGE!

Any alternative suggestions? Perhaps a tape repair / workshop in the DC / MD area I could bring the tape to?

    Thanks, everyone.

    John
