Hi Wendy
After some trouble shooting and testing with all of the available SD adapters for this camera, I can confirm that none of them work with the camera shooting at 50Mbps. I tried the Sony Mead adapters and also the MxR ones by E-films.
I went ahead and bought two of the SxS-2 32gb cards, each of which shoot 67 minutes at the highest quality possible.
I hope this helps. Best of the luck with the new camera.

Hi Stephen
I suspect that this is the same problem I, and quite a lot of other people have had in the past. You will find all the answers at the below link. Looks like it is most likely dirt or dust on the sensor.

Hi Jeremy
I suspect that it will be a replacement of the sensor alright as the camera was already in for cosmetic repairs as it had a fall a few weeks back, which is probably what caused the sensor block to let in dust or dirt (the fall must have broken the factory sealed unit). Plus the spots seem to have shifted which would lead me to believe that it’s dust or dirt.
I’m just wondering if I’m better off writing the camera off now and getting a newer model, with less hours on it, instead of forking out even more money (the initial cosmetic charges were £900 (1400$) to have some plastic panels replaced and have the back focusing re-alligned) so another charge like this will be half of the cost of a brand new camera.
Do you know if there is any way of simply cleaning the sensor instead of having to repair the whole thing?
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Tim
I know this is an old post, but recently I have had the exact same problem as you with my EX1. (see picture)

I read that the problem was suspected to be the prism block, and that the unit is supposedly sealed and costs an unbelievable amount to replace. Can you let me know if you got your problem fixed and how much it cost (i know you spoke of warranty, but an idea of how much it cost as mine is out of warranty)
Thanks in advance

Hi Michael
The headaches and sweats have already started, and your advice about the advil and the stiff drink don’t work, they only make the symptoms worse. Anyone suffering from post camera damage stress, experiment with something more organic. Michaels advice on hitting the pills and booze don’t do anything.
Does anyone have any idea on the cost of getting this problem repaired, or if anyone has seen this problem for themselves. The screen is getting a signal ok, its just the image is completly white, so the screen seems fine, i think the signal getting to the LCD has been shorted out.
I was a little miffed at how easily this happened to the camera, and it makes me wonder if the camera is hyper sensitive to moisture damage. I would consider myself someone who looks after my equipment, but it just seems like this happened very easily.
Any technical info on anyone with a similar problem with this camera, or similar cameras would be great.

Hi Guys
I have linked to two clips, both shot at different frame rates, but with both seemingly ending up with the exact same result.
Let me know what you think of either clip. I know they’re compressed, but there is no stuttering on the 60p clip slowed down in FCP. I know there is probably a higher data rate on the 30p clip overcranked, but to the naked eye, i don’t think it’s noticeable.
Thanks for the sound advice.
