Thanks for the responses guys. I have turned off the multi-rendering option, but it didn’t help. The Video Preview is set to “Computer monitor only”. Just so you guys know this is a work computer here that I have never used. From what I found out from the users is that this issue has always been happening since it was installed. They just never bothered to tell me. Why I don’t know….. Anyway, There is an external monitor connected through an aja board on this machine used for final cut pro. However, I did notice that even though the preview setting was set to “computer monitor only”, they were still getting an image coming through to their external monitor. I thought that initially might have been the problem. But when I disconnected the aja board, I found that while they obviously no longer had signal going to their external monitor, the issue remained.

Actually Jon, I just figured it out. I have been using the slider bar to determine the depth of my object. I didn’t realize you could type values higher then 100%. Knowing this has given me the depth I’m looking for with my curve line from AI. Thanks again for all your help.

I took a look at the tutorial, and have a better idea about what you meant by cycling layers. But I don’t think that solves my problem. The tutorial talks about revealing a number that doesn’t have to be manipulated, just revealed. And the other example uses the bend tool to manipulate the text up and down. I need it to be manipulated inwards and outwards. Is this still done using the same techinque?

I understand what you saying on a broad scale, but I am having a hard time envisioning how to set up the AI document. Do you have an example I can reference? Thanks Jon.

It has to do with the amount of ram on your computer. Your computer doesn’t have enough. Your comp has either too many effects to render at once or it is too long of a timeline. You will only be able to view it in sections. The time will vary according to how many actions AE has to render. Basically, get more ram.

I think that may be from connecting your endpoints of your mask. That would give you that rubberband look during the morph. If you leave the mask open ended, it should reshape nicely. What effect are you trying to use?

create a mask on a solid layer, and click the shape choice under your mask settings to set keyframes. One in the shape of an “I” and then reshape it into an “S”. The apply “3D stroke” or “write-on” to get your stroke color and width. Hope that helps.

Are you running multiple programs while you are using AE? That would definately pull away form the amount of memory AE could use.
