The problem I experience pluging line into the camera from a mixing board, was no sound at all. I tried different combination of pluging into the mini stero port at the front of the camera and pluging into the RCA ports on the back and side of the camera, changing menu settings. But still no audio. Just wondering if I actually need a MA-100 or Beachtek device to get balanced audio into the camera or audio period from a source besides the native mic on the camera. Sorry i replyed to this late. Didn’t look like any one was gonna respond to it.

Thanks for the advice concerning this matter. Alot of great advice I’ve gotten so far. I’ve already began to plan out a variation of everything people have posted. Only thing now is that I’m waiting on this guy to make up his maind if he wants to do the commerical or not. What a drag. Ya get hyped and ready to go, only to be stop dead in your tracks. Anyways thanks for the advice. Hopefully some day I will be able to drop in my two cents that will help some one.

Thanks alot for the great (beyond) valuble information. I believe you have sold me on purchasing a consumer camcorder for the time being until I can afford a more professional deck which will happen when my little business venture grows.

I was told once that I could use a consumer (home video) dv camorder as a deck to digitize and record to. But will a “home video” recorder give me time code in case I need to go back and re-digitize a project? The stuff I plan on doing right now is low to mid budget commericals for cable tv. So re-digitizing exact points may not be that crucial at this stage in this business venture.

Thanks for the info. It kinda dawned on me to do your suggestion before you responded to the thread. I tried it out and it works great. I guess this means I need to purchase a mini-dv deck. Especially since I don’t want to wear out the heads on the camera rewinding and fast-forwarding and stuff.

    Thanks

I was going the S-Video route because I need to see the video on the NTSC monitor when I edit which I can’t do with the DV unless you can tell me how to do that. My capture card doesn’t support DV.

    Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I do plan to have talent release forms on hand, plus we will post a sign instructing those that do not wish to be in the commercial to reside in an area reserved for them until we are finished. But again I’m more concerned about lighting. I really need some advice on this aspect of the project. I still want the commercial to have a night club feel with not so much dark dungeon look to it. I seen pictures on the internet of stills of club scences and it seems like all they did was light the foreground using the flash on the camera. Well any advice from anyone to help steer me in the right direction will be heplfull.
