After Effects 6.5 on a Windows VISTA machine

when I attempt to import video files with the .MOV file format, the software does not recognize the file format and gives me the following message:

Unable to import file name: as project.

My After Effects Version 4 imports the .MOV file format just fine.
Anything I can do to fix the problem?
