What san are you using or want to use— the way you want to chop it could definitely work… but there are a ton of variables here: future bandwidth requirements, type of drives, and type of san software. All of those variables have to be addressed in order to make a correct decision on how to chop your storage. If this was facilis they could make those sizes on the fly and if they didn’t work they could delete and recreate a better workflow down the road (facilis benefit)contact me at 714-374-4944 or e-mail me at johng@maxxdigital.com ,so we can discuss this at length.
I can offer you several different options and even help you to facilitate them as well.

    Cheers

May 1, 2008 at 10:31 pm in reply to: Facilis Terrablock San System Feedback

    Scott,
downside: your upgrade path is either larger drives from facilis, or another facilis box. If you are cool with staying with facilis it isn’t a problem, but if the you want to branch out to a file level system like xsan they have to sell the facilis or throw it out.

upside: it is a san in a box. once you plug it in you can start creating drives and working in a volume level san environment. It is just like sanMP or fibrejet except that the volumes are scalable, a major major benefit. It is the easiest out of box solution for a san available, and supports serious speed- something like 3 or 4 streams of HD.You can contact me at 714-374-4944 or e-mail me at johng@maxxdigital.com .To discuss this in further deatil and see what other options are out there for you.

    All the best

  • Phillip,
As far as the Intensity cards go I have not heard of any bugs so far, I do not believe that you have to downgrade your operating system either, you can go to the website and download the manual go to page 22 to look up what the disk usage might be,
when transfering via HDV I believe your 1920×1080 goes to 1440×1080.It is also my undrstanding that you will probaly have to go to a multibridge or decklink to get your 5.1 audio because of the card only being 2 channel.
Please call me at 714-374-4944 or e-mail me johng@maxxdigital.com and we can discuss this in further detail.
