    We’re thinkng about installing a 12TB network and I thought about allocating the space as follows;

    1. Video capture files – 7.0TB
    2. Audio capture files – .5TB
    3. Preview files – 1TB
    4. Project files – .5TB
    a. Video
    i.Premiere Pro
    ii.Aftereffects
    iii. Encore
    b.Audio
    c.Flash
    d.3D Studio
    5. Resource files – 2 TB
    a.Graphics
    i. Bitmap Images
    ii. Vector Art
    iii. Material Libraries
    b.Titles
    c.Static backgrounds
    d.Motion backgrounds
    e.Audio files
    f.Database
    Parity 1TB

We’re editing SD on three work stations using the Adobe Master Collections CS3 and I’d be interested in the opinions of those who have a similar sized SAN and how they’ve allocated their space. I want to be sure I’m not totally off base here.

The concept I have is that if everything is stored on the SAN, then any project can be edited from any station.

    Cheers.

What san are you using or want to use— the way you want to chop it could definitely work… but there are a ton of variables here: future bandwidth requirements, type of drives, and type of san software. All of those variables have to be addressed in order to make a correct decision on how to chop your storage. If this was facilis they could make those sizes on the fly and if they didn’t work they could delete and recreate a better workflow down the road (facilis benefit)contact me at 714-374-4944 or e-mail me at johng@maxxdigital.com ,so we can discuss this at length.
I can offer you several different options and even help you to facilitate them as well.

    Cheers
