You’re right. I hadn’t heard of Super Talent. Not only are they less expensive, they have better performance specs.

I think Atomos also has lower cost CFast1.0 cards.

  • Do you see the effect just on the arms? if so, their speed might cause the stutter. It’s about the relative movement between camera and subject. It’s also possible the stutter might be an artifact caused by rolling shutter. Here’s an article rolling shutter from wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_shutter.

  • Is the camera moving or panning while you see the stutter? Does it appear most on vertical edges? If so, this may be normal. A fast pan will result in stutter. The American Cinematographer Manual has charts that show the max speed you can pan through a given angle without stutter. If the camera is stationary, then something odd is happening. What shutter angle are you using? I’m not sure, but that might have an effect if the camera’s panning.

SanDisk recently reduced prices. It’s still expensive, but better.

November 18, 2014 at 7:14 pm in reply to: How See Recorded Timecode on URSA?

I spoke with BM support and was told this will be in an upcoming FW update. Currently, the URSA records TOD code as set in the menu, but only displays time from the beginning of the clip being recorded. For the time being, we’ll use a Timecode Buddy: wifi to broadcast TOD code set the same as the URSA’s. It’ll be off by a second or so, but close enough for logging.n I hope this comes sooner than later.

    That’s what I’d do.

  • What codec are you using? What frame rate?
