Thank you Mike & Edward for your comments & help. I just finished my video & it turned out – well not to bad. I also purchased Vegas Pro 10, so now I have a nice software program to work w/ future animatioins/videos. Thanks again. John

Thk’s for asking is 30000 missing. I went to the folder containing the images & I found that the numbering changes from 29,000 to 210,000 & then proceeds to 211,762. I guess I should have checked this 1st!! Is there a trick to re-numbering or would it just be best to import 2 sequences? I was thinking of putting each sequence on a different timeline, but then I’m not sure how I would “group” them in case I need to stretch or shrink the timeline.

Mike,
The trial version I am using is Pro 9. If & when I purchase it will be the latest version (11), I believe.
I seem to be having a problem importing .png files. I select my folder, highlight the 1st file & then check the box below for image sequence…. In my case the images range from 2001 to 211,762. However, down @ the bottom of the import window the range finder illustrates images 2001 to 29,999. This is not all the images. I enter the value of 211,762, but still only 29,999 frames are imported into Vegas. I doubt this would be the maximum limit of the software so what am I doing wrong?

Mike,
The original animation was exported @ 10fps.
I found an excellent tutorial by Paul Russam on the SketchUcation form on the internet, that was very helpful w/ exports out of Sketchup (my software). Apparently, more fps results in a smoother video!! I went back into my software & started an export @ 30 fps. The processing time was 30 hrs w/ 11,345 frames. Unfortunately we had a freak snowstorm here which cut off my power, so the export was incomplete. I hope to start it again as soon as the threat of this snow storm has passed.
Anyway, in Mr. Russams tutorial he exports his image series into Adobe Premiere Elements instead of Vegas. I am on the trial period right now of Vegas, but do not know anything about Adobe Elements except the fact that the price tag is about $200.00 more than Vegas. I know you use Vegas, but do you know anything about this Adobe software program. If I’m going to invest the money, I would like to have the “better” of the two. Do you have any suggestions?
Back to Vegas & image sequencing. Will imported 30 fps image sequence result in a smoother video processed out in Vegas @ 30 fps?

Mike,
Yes, the images were imported as a “image sequence”. The only editing I did, outside from the preference settings listed in the last post, was to group the video on the timeline & stretch it for a slower video speed. Actually, the video as seen on the post is not to bad, but when viewed on my monitor or on a projector screen to a client, it is quite jerky. The flicker of images seems to be worse when the camera “pans” rather than “walks”. I am wondering if this could be something inherent in the animation done in the modeling software!?
W/o the settings as listed above (default vegas settings), the jerking effect is worse.

Mike,
Thk’s for the info. However, I’m still getting flickering effect. Attached is a clip of the edited image sequence (I hope)
Settings: Options – Prefs-Editing. New still image length set to 0.125, Automatic overlap… checked, Cut to overlap conversion @ 0.050. Images imported w/ open still image sequence checked & the media tap set as per your post Nov.27, 2011 @ 7:55 am. Video event: Reduce interlace flicker checked & Disable resample also checked.
This clip is only 300 some frames & is used as a test. The final will have just over 3,000 frames.I still seem to be doing something wrong!
