Okay, so if quicktime is using simple combining, what method is media player using to deinterlace the footage while maintaining the much smoother playback?
Why then, is media player playing back the footage in such a smoother fashion. Is windows media player giving the full 59.94 fields per second and quick time/FCP only 29.97 fields per second?
Initially, I use the canvas to judge quality. If it is not to my liking, I like to render out stuff in compressor using ProRes. Both the canvas and the render look identical.
I had figured that it had something to do with the monitor. What isn’t clear to me is why the same exact footage, captured with a different codec (Mpeg-4), doesn’t look interlaced, even though it’s still listed as interlaced in the browser.
