    Hi,

You are saying that the original material look good, so I agree with you that we try not to de- interlace.

I do not know the specs of you video player so I start out with 15 Mbit CBR. For HD you would really require more bitrate for mpeg 2 coding, but
again I think your LCD monitor is good for 1280 x 720 so I would choose that setting instead together with ” scale fields independently ”

Choose Assume 16:9 in the re-size filter,

    size 120 x 720

In profile settings I choose display 1:1 progressive top first
in Key frame settings open gop Long gop NTSC
    2 pass

    how about that?

    Hi,

Just a reminder, you can allways download a demo of Compression Master at http://www.popwire.com. You will find alot of different tools
in Compression Master that can really make a difference for your transcodings. F.x the de-interlace filter itself offers options like ” de-interlace moving areas only and several steps of edge detecting interpolation. Enough said – go see if this app can improve your work

Compression Master is a desktop app where you add files and create settings as well as manually push the start transcoding button.

In our Compression Engine solution you receive Compression Master as well, but in this workflow you use Compression Master only to tune settings. these settings are then exported to any number of watch folders monitored by Compression Engine. These watch folder can f.x be resident on a shared storage. All media, single or multiple files, that are sent/uploaded/captured to a watch folder will be transcoded according to settings within, be it just one setting a or multiple ones. This an automatic workflow solution.

A very straight forward and powerful solution built around the OSX plattform

you can find more info on formas codecs and similiar at http://www.popwire.com

yes we are using the On2 codec, together with our own pre-processesing filters.

Yes, Compression Master allows batch processing, and here is where
it gets interesting. If your workflow requires processing of a lot of files, you should look into Compression Engine. CE is a watch folder system, that can be extended with a cluster solution as well. Engine is even faster than Compression Master due to the fact that we allow the user to manually set the amount of jobs / CPU. – you can use a powermac quad and let all four cores handle one job each, ore one job split on all four cores. Trancoding to Real Surestream och WMV Intellistream where several streams are coded into one file will be very fast thanks to this.

These tools inside will make a difference when you tune you workflow for speed and throughput.

of course , both Compression Master and Compression Engine runs on Intel as well.

You are very welcome to our site, https://www.popwire.com and download Compression Master 4.0. – there is a lot of new features, codecs, formats
    as well GUI enhancements.

the demo version will allow for 20 second jobs, but that will you a clue of the speed, as well giving you access to the very extended toolbox inside.
We are also introducing Flash 8 as a plug in.

    all best

p.s one more thing…speed? yes it
