  • I’m trying to diagnose whether my master dvd recorder is causing problems or if it’s one of our four 10-bay dvd recorders. They are set to automatically detect and set the duplication speed. Is there a correlation between the duplication speed and the number of errors on a disk? I have always assumed that the faster the duplication the more possible errors.

Also, I’m wondering how the dvd master encoding speed (sp/ep) affects the duplicates. is there a correlation between the encoding speed and the duplication speed?

my assumptions have been that a slower recording speed (with less compression) on the master will play better on a duplicate, even with possible duplication errors. and that the slower the duplication speed (12x or 8x) will reduce copy errors.

does the logic hold in this case?
