You could try a simple gradient wipe. Just create a new solid layer and create a ramp to use as a map. You can use any type of gradient you want. (you can make this in photoshop as well) Put the still of the ramp in your timeline, turn off the eyeball, and apply the gradient wipe to your logo layer. Pick whatever you called your ramp layer to be your map in the effect controls.
my 2 cents anyway

I would try colorama first and change your output cycle to colors that match. I think they might even have a rastafarian preset, or something like that (at least shine does).
Then go ahead and color correct after that.

Here’s a link to a cut detector that does a reasonably good job.

Although in theory Mike’s suggestion could work, it would be darn near impossible and a huge undertaking. As a last resort maybe.
I don’t know if you already have footage of your friend fighting, but if you don’t you should shoot him on a green screen, that takes care of his alpha. If he’s already shot then you need to rotoscope him out of his environment. Same with Rocky. This is totally possible and should yield decent results, but be prepared for hours and hours and hours of tedious brain numbing work.
Search for “roto” on the cow. That should give you what you need. AE is better than photoshop for this.

because I’m a dork!
My coworker had it turned off on his system and I think he asked me what the fix was and I confused it with something that I actually couldn’t find out online some time ago, so I just posted.

April 10, 2008 at 11:47 pm in reply to: Need Help! Do you charge clients for Rendering? We charge by individual gfx here, not render time. And it’s always a flat rate. So if it takes me an hour to do one card and 5 minutes on another, it’s still the same. At least the clients know every time what it costs. Why should they have to pay extra for how fast / slow your machine is?
Or you could just get Nucleo and keep working while rendering

Another way to do this is through text animators. I recently had to do something similar and it worked in my case. Check out Aharon’s recent tutorials (I think there’s 3)
Anyway, you can enable 3d per character and play around with position, opacity, and y axis keyframes. There’s also a randomize offset button which can help. And ease the motion not just on your keyframes but with the “ease high” and “ease log” sliders.
Do you see where I’m going here?
You can duplicate this layer, change the text and keyframes and end up with something nice.

It really depends on what your final output would be and who your clients are. Kona 3 is one of the best cards out there. Full breakout box, up/down conversions on the fly, 2k, and a bunch of other stuff I know nothing about. It’s best to go to aja’s website and check out the specs.
Not I’m not a techy or anything, just an editor, but I know in my company we could not lock to a d5 or hdcam deck without tri-level sync. Can anyone else jump in here with more info?
