    Fair Question.

This is to address my most Recent Posts. Plus a Response to a post from Francois Blawat. This includes EVERONE else also!

I appreciate where Francois Blawat is coming from and feel he deserves some feedback. Thank you for asking. I also acknowledge that Alan Lorence lends a Great Service to many people posting questions in this forum.

I haven’t been contacting Genarts with any Questions. I’ve been receiving and/or reading responses directly from the programs Product Manager. And I also believe the protocol for the questions that I pose, Should Probably be deferred back to Alan anyway.

So now I’ve reached the point where a conglomeration of responses has left me with the perception of futility. I’m attaching some excerpts for Perspective.

    scan some images for me?

I’ll need these images within the next week so I can get the library released by the end of the month. Thanks!

What are the “little” things about pI3 that bug you?
by Alan Lorence on Dec 19, 2012 at 1:11:37 pm
We don’t have a lot of engineering manpower to commit to particleIllusion right now, but there are probably “small” things that could be squeezed in once in a while. No promises that we’ll actually be able to do any of these things, but what are the little improvements you’d like to see?

Alan posted “scan some images for me” months ago so he could create
emitters because his scanner was broke.Understandable setback. That was Oct.17.
    So yes,Where are the Emitters?

As I said, so many questions. There *is* another library coming soon, half of it based on the scans that people provided me with months ago, and half created by Tom. Probably next week sometime, as I have some editing to do and very little time to do it right now.

    Emitter libraries
by Joe Morgan on Jan 24, 2013 at 12:44:50 pm
It would seem to me that the best thing to do with emitter libraries would be to look back at the
“BEST EMITTERS” and convert them into in HD Format.

    Emitter library status update
by Alan Lorence on Feb 12, 2013 at 6:27:06 pm
I’ve had “release the emitter library” on my to-do list for several weeks now, but it’s so difficult to squeeze in right now. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get it done this week or over the weekend at the latest though.

I found the previous post and the 2 before that by you to be both Disingenuous and Condescending.
But I’ll post a responce anyway. In a Quest for more Useful emitters.

Considering that most emitters. Including Pro emitters. Are mostly created at 256 X 256 pixels and “BELOW” in size. With “BELOW” seemingly more common.

Coupled with the fact that most look Perfectly Fine at the size they were created. Should Suggest enlarging a emitter in most cases. Resulting in it becoming more visible and covering more than a very small portion of a High Resolution Screen.
Let’s say 1920 X 1080. Or HD to most people.

And it Should also suggest—-That’s what I mean when I say that I would like to have more HD emitters to choose from. Plus, if the emitters I currently have to choose from. Become (SOFT) and/or Blurry and Unrealistic when Enlarged. That’s probably what’s occurring. Triggering a request for more HD emitters.

That’s what “I” mean by HD emitters. I hope I didn’t Over Elaborate! You seem to be searching for what a HD emitter might be.
Because if you actually understood what one was. You might regard this post as Condescending.

So thank you so much for considering creating HD emitters. They would be much appreciated!

I suppose if you only work with one emitter at a time. Memory might not be much of an issue. That and stick with small low-definition stuff.

It won’t be twice as fast unless we rework significant parts of it! Your words Alan.
Slow and steady is for the turtle.

Maybe this is a good time to mention that I’m not that crazy about needing to convert all my footage to AVI just to load it into Particle Illusion. That requires a lot of time also. I was aware of that. But I could never understand why this is the only video program I know of that can’t work with other formats.

I didn’t say upgrading to 64 bit should be free. At a snails pace is not overstated if you consider that 64 bit systems can render multiple frames with ease in the same instant.
    Especially when working in HD.

The more cores, the more frames. Multi-threaded is another bump. Requiring RAM.
2 to 3 GB a core in HD I’ve read.
I upgraded from 4GB RAM to 8GB. The bump was very noticeable.

You need to see what the emitter is doing throughout the video to make proper adjustments. Unless somehow I got that wrong.

32 bit Particle Illusion barely uses 2GB. That’s all my computer will register.

Last thing I read mentioned emitters likely by the end of the weekend. Mid Feb. at that time. I waited on that for several weeks.
I was looking forward to it. Not any more.

Maybe it’s me but I’m not finding a lot of “large scale” high definition emitters to experiment with. Just small ones that need a lot of work to look good enlarged. How many of the 3000 available look great large scale and in HD?

I don’t believe how I feel about this is vastly out of line.

I would like to see some non-confusing good tutorials on how to create emitters.

I understand that the emitters are complicated. But I also realize as long as the lingo isn’t too technical and there is plenty of “Good” visual references that it isn’t that difficult to convey what you want people to know.

I had purchased particle illusion shortly before I had to change where I lived to a different state. That was nearly one year ago. Time has flown by. I said it was six months in my previous posting.
Between moving and a different job I have not been using particle illusion. So I was quite surprised to find out that the particle illusion emitters were not being released like they used to be.

Requesting scanned images so that emitters could be released by the end of the month never happened.

It would have been nice if information would have been released letting particle illusion owners know what was going on with the emitter libraries.

I don’t believe it is the responsibility of the owners of particle illusion to have to dig up such information.

Now that I understand what is going on I don’t have a problem with it whatsoever.

I also wouldn’t mind being able to create animations like that mouse if it isn’t too difficult.I would expand on that but I think everybody knows the mouse I’m talking about.Thats also why I think those type of emitters would be a “big draw” for future sales also!

Part of the reason I was so interested in particle illusion was that I wouldn’t have to go to the trouble of creating my own emitters. Nor am I interested in the same old emitters slightly reworked.

Wasn’t trying to stir up trouble. I tend to be very blunt and direct. That’s just the way I am. No hard feelings Alan!

Considering what 64 Bit does for video editing. Not evolving Partical Illusion is nothing more than the equivalent of a slow death spiral in my opinion.

    Really Kurt,
You think people are spoiled because they want to know why they are no longer getting what they expected when they purchased this program? How about if they were to announce that no program updates will ever be offered again? Although announcing that would at least allow people to know where they stand! People tend to get fairly fast responses to simple questions posted on this forum and yet this question seems to be ignored. Can you honestly say that this is people acting spoiled?

A lot of emitters are very much alike so I hope all this waiting means they will be worth the wait.Something new and impressive is overdue!
I got particle illusion 6 months ago.I thought I could look forward to new emitters. I’m not very good at creating my own.
I have been very patient so yes,
Whats going on with the emitters?
