    I came here looking for the answer to the same question. Hoping to find a possible solution instead getting heated about why some found it so wrong that we were having a problem… jeez. But I do the “lock track” method, but lately they’re big projects and it takes many clicks, then the clicks to undo the locks, etc…
    The other thing I do, is to take the clip from the project bin, create a subclip, then adjust the speed, then drag to timeline. That way you’re not adjusting the speed of the original clip and the parts you’re not adjusting the speed.

    Wouldn’t you agree Shane that sometimes you don’t know your out point due to the speed of the clip? You need something to stop at a certain word in the script, you don’t always know where that is at half-speed in the clip. Unless you want to do a lot of math.
