“In FCP go Audio/Video settings->Device Control Presets tab and you’ll see a list of all your presets. One of the settings is Playback offset and you can use this to adjust the timing if everything is hooked up right but you are still not frame accurate. Our setup here was coming in a frame late so I made a duplicate of the proper Preset and changed the default offset of 4 frames to 5 frames. Now we are dead on. ”

Anyone here shoot on Red and finish long format? Or because the workflow is still being refined are people still staying away from it?

Waveform/vectorscopes are in the budget, Close captioning we probably do out of house – but I get what youre saying. Don’t go cheap on the equipment.

I came in to this situation with Blackmagic Cards, (wasn’t too thrilled about it) so I’d like to maybe pitch to my bosses the Kona Card solution

For the most part our setup is pretty basic. I’m pushing to build on more sophisticated equipment as we pick up more speed and projects.

Why is Kona 3 a must? What makes this card better than the Black Magic Decklinks?

I’ve only known Black Magic since I’ve switched over from Avid Adrenaline to work here.

I’m curious to know also what steps need to be taken to make sure Tapes are being laid of frame accurate

Thank you for your responses.

We are geared Blackmagic here Decklink HD Pro here and I’m pretty sure boss man wants to keep these cards. Any heads up on these?

As far as frame accuracy in laying off from Final Cut, what steps need to be done to make sure I hit on every frame I intend to start on? Frequency Settings, Reference, HD Sync.

Sorry if this is too broad of a question guys. I’m quoting out components I need right now and I just want to make sure I know what I’m asking.

Thank you! As a backup what do you think about the Dual Systems reader or is there a solution that is 100-200 range?

Bringing in 1 to 2 hour tops and don’t see the need for the big p2 store units

I’m thinking it may be the 6600 GeForce card as the other macs that have the 7300 card seem to be giving us an image that looks great.

– 6600 seems to be crushing the blacks

I also blew out the machine with a can of compressed air just now so I will monitor the performance from here on out
