One aspect of Sony tech support that I appreciate is that you can e-mail them after loging into their site and send crash reports so they can tell you what’s going on. I haven’t worked with your media, but the last project I was working on Vegas kept crashing virtually every 30 seconds. I was using “HD” media pulled from YouTube and in one of those files, there was something Vegas didn’t like. So it kept crashing. Tech support picked it up right away.

  • I’m a little confused as to why your camera won’t accept the tape. Is the copy protect slider tripped? The cameras I’ve used beeped at me if the tape was protected, but just a thought there.

As for your pixelation, I’m assuming this is around curved edges and such. Your dealing with non-square pixels and once you’re able to pull it into Vegas, from what I’ve heard, as long as you have you have your fields set up right, everything should look fine.

The default capture program, in my opinion (especially the pro version) should already be set up to capture DVCPRO. But, it’s not. Now, you are able to purchase MainConcepts DVCPRO 25/50 & 100 codecs, but they will NOT add functionablity to the capture program. It will however render out to a 4:2:2 color space. Ya! But that’s kind of a waste of money since you can’t get it BACK to the DECK!

And of course you don’t want to think about trying SDI cause that’s just too expensive. Even a Blackmagic Converter from analog to SDI is $500!

If you REALLY want to work in a 4:2:2 color space, you’ll have to switch over to FCP or go SDI. Unless, someone else knows more about this than I. Hopefully…

I’m going to assume that you burned to a regular DVD-R5 (purple) disc, correct? Sometimes, especially at higher speeds, I have had discs come out like that. I’m imagining these “pixels” to be large blocks of color that will pop up from time to time or in large groups. Maybe even a TON right at the begining? Am I right?

I believe it’s the media to blame. DVDs were originally meant to be replicated, and DVD-Rs can sometimes be annoying. Sometimes what I will do, is after the disc comes out, I rub the disc on my shirt and for some reason, it works just fine after that. Though, I’ve noticed that if you give a couple seconds of slug/black at the begining of the first media, it should come out just fine.

I’ve done a lot of DVD projects in Architect and if there’s errors on the disc it’s ALWAYS been the media to blame.
