You’ll be pushing the boundaries, but it should be possible.
720 minutes (12 hrs) of audio will fit on a single DVD-5 if you encode it at 96 kbps (4,147,200,000 bytes). Audio quality will be fairly poor, which might not be so much of an issue if they are all lectures/lessons. This leaves you about 552,800,000 bytes free.
You would want to put each audio clip into its own timeline, and create a still frame for the video if you want any video information. Each still will take up at most a few hundred kilobytes. Menus will be about 50 KB each.
Provided your PDF files are not too large, it should be possible. Another word of advice: SaveAs the project often.

No, you would need Sonic’s eDVD to do this (but you could create the DVD folder from Encore).

Sure, just use a different menu for each button, and set the buttons to auto-activate. Note that this will be a lot of work depending on the number of buttons. Also, anyone using a software DVD player will have to click the button to take themselves to the next menu.

This is the correct way to set a background video. But didn’t you say there were animated buttons? Where are you doing that- in Encore, or in After Effects?

You can link through the Link field in Button properties, or drag and drop the chapter from the timeline to the button, or use the Flowchart. Lots of ways to link a button to a chapter.

You’re certain it’s a video button, and you’ve linked it to a chapter?

If I read your post correctly, you’re not really creating the motion menu in After Effects. It sounds like you are creating only part of the menu video background in After Effects, and compositing video thumbnail buttons in Encore.
If you don’t want your thumbnails to appear immediately, you must create ALL of it in AE (not use button thumbnails in Encore). Then use Loop Point as Jeff described.

If all your loop settings are correct and there are no overrides (you’re positive of this last? Check timelines, menus, buttons, and disc properties to make sure), then most likely the menu has somehow been corrupted.
Try creating a new motion menu and see if it still happens.
