I’m not sure I understand what you are using Encore for? Are you trying to make a DVD-Video disc? That’s what Encore does.
But it sounds like you are simply trying to burn a DVD-ROM so you can move some AVI files to another system. That’s not what Encore is designed for.
Please clarify what you’re trying to do.

I really don’t know the answer to that question.
I believe you would have to replicate your DVD title, meaning author it to DLT and deliver it to a DVD replication house, have them create a glass master and stamp out a run of discs- that would likely be the first step.
After that, I would expect contacting someone at Microsoft and exchanging the information that you want for the DVD title.

This information is not embedded in the DVD disc- is in a database that is maintained by Microsoft which they match to a disc ID number. There is no way to add the information you want in a DVD authoring program. Sorry.

Sorry Dan, hitting the Next button will not execute the end action of a chapter.
What it should do is take you to the next chapter in the timeline. If you are on the last chapter of a timeline, it should execute the end action of the timeline.
If you want to return to the last menu every time you press the Next button, you should cut your video into small chunks and put each in its own timeline with end action.

Hello Scot – I remember you from the LiveMotion user forum in the good old days.
Tracks are called timelines in Encore, and in Encore you could select all 20 of them and apply a single end action (same as DVDSP end jump) in the timeline properties – all in one action. Encore offers a variety of ways of working in your project: in a sortable spreadsheet-type of mode, drag and drop among different windows, or in a Flowchart.
If you have a PC with WinXP, you can get a feel for Encore by downloading and installing the tryout.

moxiecat…there is. Just omit the Import into Encore part, and there you have it. I added that only to illustrate.

To achieve the look you want, first, import the PSD into Encore as a menu.
Then do an Edit in Photoshop, and delete the mask that you have.
Then select the Marquee tool, set the feather to how much opacity falloff you want, and then drag the marquee over the thumbnail to draw out a selection rectangle or oval, whichever you prefer. Make it a bit smaller than you think you’ll need.
Finally, go to the Layer menu and choose Layer Mask > Reveal Selection.

Sounds like you’re using a vector mask for this? Begin by converting it to a layer mask. Once that’s done, select the mask only (not the layer beneath), and then blur it.

You have to specify that the subtitles be shown when you link to the slideshow.
Do this in the Specify Link dialog.

Have you done the math with your file sizes?
Actually, a single DVD is capable of holding more than 2 hours of good quality video, but it’s the bit rates of the video you use which will determine the final file size of your videos.
