[jay krishnan] “One point is that encore stretches the video to 720×576, respective of what resolution i import. “

Yes, it does…because PAL DVD-Video must be 720×576 pixels.

It would be helpful if you could post screen shots of the problem.

You made the video 768×576, at 25 fps? How does that look in Encore? Can you post a screenshot?

Not sure if Flash understands non-square pixels…prolly not. Instead, export a 768×576 AVI from Flash, and for PAL you want 25 fps.

Import this into an Encore PAL project and see if you can work with it. If not, import it into a Premiere PAL DV project and export an MPEG-2 file for use in Encore. See if that works for you.

Make sure you MPEG-2 settings are for 23.98 fps progressive.

You’ll have to manually calculate your bit budget using this method. There are lots of online bit budget calculators…take a look at videohelp.com

Did you do your editing in Premiere? If so, just open the sequence and export it to MPEG-2 as 24p.

Have you got any subtitles in your project? Or multiple clips on a timeline?

The image is a bit small…I can’t see any pixelation there. Can you post a screenshot where the pixelation is present?

    April 9, 2009 at 10:54 pm in reply to: 23.98P in FPC + Compressor + Encore = 29.97 DVD???

23.98 fps video on a DVD will play back as 29.97 fps on systems that don’t support progressive video – the player does the pull-down automatically. And of course it will play back as 23.98 fps progressive on system which support progressive playback.

So if you aren’t already, you should export from Compressor as 23.98 fps MPEG-2 for DVD-Video, and just import that into Encore. Also make sure you are exporting elementary streams, and not a muxed MPEG-2 file.
