Encore 1.5 does not support QuickTime reference files…sorry. Try exporting a self-contained movie, then import that.

21 minutes encoded at 7 Mb/s being 1 GB sounds about right.
If you want more time, encode at a lower bit rate.

Encore requires video to be full frame and DVD-legal.
The only suggestion I have is to either resize or matte the clips in PPro or the NLE of your choice, and then export a full frame 720×576 25 fps AVI or MPEG-2 file, then import that into Encore.

Actually, no.
To do something like this, you would user Premiere Pro or the NLE of your choice to loop one track or other to match the longest track, then export this as an AVI and set it to the background of the menu.

There is no workaround. Please file a feature request with Adobe and perhaps you’ll see it in a future version of the app.

If you created the motion menu in AE, you shouldn’t have to render in Encore.
Go to the Encore Layers palette, open each button layer set and hide all layers in the menu.
Does that work for you?
