Thanks for pointing out the wrench menu … very helpful! Alas, after clicking on the menu, and clicking the options to turn on the waveforms and show clip markers, neither happened. I went back and reinstalled CS6 and my markers automatically showed up and was easily able to show the waveform by expanding the track it is on …. just like I used to do in CS3. I fail to understand what purpose was served by making it more difficult, or even impossible to do these things is CC? Same thing I noticed is that the ability to access the resize menu in Photoshop by right clicking the title bar for the image has gone away. Why Adobe why? Reminds me a little of Apple’s arrogance when they redid Final Cut …

I do not see a way in Premiere CC to expand a track: the little “arrow” to expand does not seem to be there anymore, unlike in earlier versions.

ARG! Frustrating! I am installing Premiere CS6 to replace CC right now to see if I can get these features back.

Tyler and Gene, thanks for the help so far! I determined which G-Speed had the issue, and the which drive was the failed drive. However, when I placed the new drive into the G-Speed, it detected the drive, but wouldn’t start the rebuilding process: the “Array Maintenance” window said that the drive was “offline” … and I can’t figure out how to “kick start” the rebuilding process, or make the drive “online.” The manual doesn’t seem to mention what to do … in fact it implies the rebuilding should be automatic.
The existing, original drive is not totally dead, since I can reinsert the older disk, the config utility “sees it” and the RAID returns to “critical” status and I can still access all of my files. This only lasts for a short period of time however: not enough time to simply copy all of my files off the unit and just create a totally new array.
Any thoughts about what I should do next now that the working drive is in the unit?

Also, I have a replacement drive arriving tomorrow. After I determine which RAID has the failed drive, would you recommend shutting down the RAID and powering it off until that other drive arrives? I am one of those guys who feels a hard drive should not be powered down for any extended period of time since it may not spin up again … thoughts on that?

After leaving the system off for over three hours, Premiere hung during the splash screen and Windows would not reboot so I had to hard power down. After powering up and launching Premiere, again, no Matrox audio and no output to the NTSC monitor. I am back at Square One …. what should I do??

Jon … thanks for that advice. I have a week long video shoot coming up so when I am gone I am having the Axio hardware taken out of this machine and installed in another, more reliable box.
I actually got the unit working again tonight … sort of: after running out of ideas, and stopping short of your suggestions above, I stuck in the Windows XP CD and “upgraded” Windows. That process seems to have fixed the immediate problem I was having since Premiere launched fine and played back ONE project fine …. before doing its typical HARD lockup while I was playing back another project. After rebooting, I was able to playback the second project most of the way through before it froze up again.
I hate to say it, but that has been “normal” for this system: I can run it fine for about a week … and then it will lock up hard. If I power off/on immediately to get it “unstuck,” it will lock up again in minutes. If I power it off for an hour and then turn it back on, it might go for two hours before another hard freeze. If I leave it off overnight, then it will run a good week or so before it freezes again … I have had NO luck solving this. I figure it is hardware related, but the PC shows no signs of overheating according to the Speed Fan program I have running. Also, nothing shows up in the Event logger window indicated a malfunction. I suspect that either the Matrox card is faulty or there is some issue with some hardware in the system. Unfortunately for me, the losers I bought this system from went out of business so I have no recourse with them.
I am going to give the system a couple of hours to cool off and then try it again.
